Welcome
This is the personal website of Merlin Cooper - Corpus Christi College, Oxford. At the present time the website is still undergoing development, either with content being added or changes being made to the styling and layout of the website. This will always be the case and therefore it would be a good idea to check back on a fairly regular basis for updates. The existence of this website serves several purposes. These are primarily to inform others of my interests and activities, impart knowledge about certain aspects of these and to give myself experience in building a fully standards complaint website. I am currently still learning XHTML, CSS and PHP and thus ironing out mistakes/inaccuracies in elements of the website as my knowledge improves. If you have any suggestions which you would like to make then you may contact me using the contact form.
Topics which one can expect to see covered on this site are amateur radio, photography, physics and real ale, along with other general comments and observations. As anyone who has ever maintained a website will no doubt be aware it can sometimes be hard to find the enthusiasm to continue writing content for a website once it is 'up and running.' This is probably due to the fact that once a working framework has been created the technical challenge is complete. I hope to overcome this by continually trying to improve both the structure and content of this website.
As a technical note this website is best viewed using the Mozilla Firefox web browser since it has very good standards compliance. Users of Microsoft's Internet Explorer should not encounter problems viewing the site although some elements have been known to display in a rather odd fashion to say the least. If you are a user of Internet Explorer then I strongly recommend you switch to the Firefox browser. The reasons for doing so are numerous but in my opinion the main reasons are those of security, speed and standards compliance.
Please note that all the photographs which appear on this website were either taken by myself and are therefore subject to the usual copyright regulations or are public domain images created by other individuals.
